To view or change the properties for the deck surface materials in a deck project, follow these steps:

In Plan View, double-click the deck surface anywhere other than a blue triangle or diamond, railing or wall. A dialog box with a title of Deck 1 Properties will be displayed. NOTE: If you have multiple decks in your project, the number shown will change depending on which deck you chose.

Click the Materials tab, then click the Change button in the Decking section near the top of the window.

After you choose the decking materials that you want, click the OK button to return to the Plan View.

Click the Bill Of Materials button near the bottom of the window to view the Bill of Materials, and the decking materials that you chose should be shown in the Bill of Materials.
If you choose Materials from the menu bar, then Setup Preferences for Decks to be Created, this will not change the deck surface materials for the current deck. It will only affect additional decks in this project. If you see a dialog box with a title of Deck Properties, this will not change preferences for the current deck in the project. Click the Cancel button and follow the steps above to change deck preferences for the current deck in the project.
To view or change the properties for the stair materials in a deck project, follow these steps:

In Plan View, double-click the stair structure anywhere other than a blue triangle or diamond or railing. A dialog box with a title of Stair 1 Properties will be displayed. NOTE: If you have stair structures in your project, the number shown will change depending on which deck you chose.

Click the Change button for the element that you wish to change.

After making the desired changes, click the OK button to return to the Plan View.

Click the Bill Of Materials button near the bottom of the window to view the Bill of Materials, and the stair materials that you chose should be shown in the Bill of Materials.
If you choose Materials from the menu bar, then Setup Preferences for Stairs to be Created, this will not change the deck surface materials for the current deck. It will only affect additional stair structures in this project. If you see a dialog box with a title of Stair Properties, this will not change preferences for the current deck in the project. Click the Cancel button and follow the steps above to change stair structure preferences for the current structure(s) in the project.
To view or change the properties for the railing materials in a deck project, follow these steps:

In Plan View, double-click the desired railing anywhere other than a blue triangle. A dialog box with a title of Railing X Properties will be displayed. NOTE: "X" represents the number assigned to the particular railing section that you chose.

Click the Materials tab, then click the Change button for the element that you wish to change. You will need to choose the option to Apply to all Railings, Apply to all railings on this deck, or Apply only to this railing.

After making the desired changes, click the OK button to return to the Plan View.

Click the Bill Of Materials button near the bottom of the window to view the Bill of Materials, and the railing materials that you chose should be shown in the Bill of Materials.
If you choose Materials from the menu bar, then Setup Preferences for Railings to be Created, this will not change the railing materials for the railings that currently exist in the deck project. It will only affect additional railings in this project. If you see a dialog box with a title of Railing Properties, this will not change preferences for the current deck in the project. Click the Cancel button and follow the steps above to change railing preferences for the current railing(s) in the project.
